Your questions answered

At Our Heritage Health Solutions, we are dedicated to providing clear, comprehensive information to help families make informed decisions about elderly care. Our commitment to quality and integrity ensures that all your questions are met with helpful, accurate answers.

What are the most common questions you get asked about your elderly care services?

Families often ask about the CDS program, whether a spouse can be paid to provide care, the age requirement for family caregivers, reasons for a spenddown, if a child with a felony can work for them, and if we offer short-term care. We are happy to discuss these and any other questions you may have in detail.

What are the key things people need to know about Missouri guidelines when looking for elderly care, and how do you help them with that?

To qualify for CDS, participants must be 18+, a Missouri resident with active MO HealthNet, have a physical disability needing assistance with daily activities (bathing, dressing, grooming, meal prep, mobility, housekeeping, laundry, shopping, errands), meet the state's level of care requirement, and be able to direct their own care. Caregivers must pass background screenings (FCSR, EDL) and can be family or friends, but not spouses or legal guardians. CDS covers services that help individuals remain independent at home.

Could you explain a bit more about your consumer directed services, what they are, and what makes them special or helpful for families?

The Missouri Consumer Directed Services (CDS) Program allows eligible individuals with disabilities or chronic health conditions to remain independent in their homes. Unlike traditional home care, CDS gives participants the freedom to hire, train, schedule, and supervise their own caregivers, often a trusted friend or family member (excluding spouses and legal guardians). CDS assists with personal care, bathing, grooming, dressing, meal preparation, mobility, light housekeeping, laundry, shopping, errands, and medication reminders, empowering individuals to control their care.

Besides private pay, are there any other payment options or à la carte services you want people to know about?

Our Heritage Health Solutions offers a variety of à la carte services to fit your specific needs, available as one-time, occasional, or recurring assistance. These include: Personal Care (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility assistance, medication reminders), Homemaker Services (light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, dishwashing, organization), Companion Care (conversation, games, reading, walks, wellness checks), Transportation & Errands (grocery shopping, prescription pick-up, doctor appointments, community outings), Family Support Services (respite care, hospital/rehabilitation sitting, post-hospital recovery, safety checks), and Specialty Services like Alzheimer's & Dementia support.
